If you have read our EV dealership economics guide, this is the execution checklist. It applies to any EV brand, including the newer premium entrants covered in our VinFast dealership opportunity in context.

The steps, in order

  1. Write a dealership business plan. Define the brand, territory, format (3S), CAPEX/OPEX budget, volume assumptions and break-even target before anything else.
  2. Validate the territory. Confirm real demand and manageable competition in your catchment; do not rely on national EV growth as a proxy for local demand.
  3. Secure capital and financing. Line up the ₹1.5–5 crore (Vinfast Auto Dealer estimate) of equity and debt, including working capital, before approaching a manufacturer.
  4. Apply to the manufacturer. Submit to the brand’s official dealer programme (e.g. VinFast’s become-a-dealer page) and complete its evaluation.
  5. Set up and launch. Sign the dealer agreement, build the outlet, recruit and train staff, stock launch inventory and open.
